Sweet and sour pork
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 1/2 c
- brown sugar - 1/4 c
- cornstarch - 2 Tbsp
- water - 4 Tbsp
- vinegar - 1/4 c
- beaten egg - 1 item
- soy sauce - 1 Tbsp
- pineapple chunks - 1 c
- pineapple juice - 3/4 c
- pork shoulder, cubed - 1 lb
- green pepper, cut in 1-inch strips diagonally - 1 item
- carrot, raw, thinly sliced - 1/2 c
How to make sweet and sour pork:
Make batter with egg, flour, salt and water. Salt and pepper the pork and coat with the batter. Fry until brown. Simmer with little water, covered, about 1 hour while making sauce.Mix pineapple, pineapple juice, green pepper, carrot, brown sugar, soy sauce and vinegar. Heat to boiling. Mix together cornstarch and water; add to boiling mixture, lower heat and stir gently until thickened. Add to fried pork and mix well. Serve at once over rice or fried noodles. Serves 4.
