Sweet and sour pork
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- brown sugar - 1/4 c
- cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
- water - 1/4 c
- vinegar - 1/4 1/3
- soy sauce - 1 Tbsp
- fat - 2 Tbsp
- pineapple chunks
- green pepper - 3/4 c
- pineapple juice - 1 c
- thinly sliced onions - 1/4 c
- lean pork shoulder, cut into 2 x 1/2-inch pieces
How to make sweet and sour pork:
Brown pork in fat. Add water and simmer for 1 hour. Combine sugar, cornstarch, salt, vinegar, pineapple juice and soy sauce. Mix and cook until slightly thick, stirring constantly. Pour over hot pork; let stand 10 minutes. Add pepper, onion and pineapple. Cook 2 to 3 minutes. Vegetables will be crispy. Serve over rice.Recipe categories: Pineapple, Main dish, Pork.
