Sweet and sour pork
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/3 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
- water - 1/2 c
- oil - 2 Tbsp
- vinegar - 1/3 c
- soy sauce - 1 Tbsp
- can pineapple chunks - 1 oz
- dash of white pepper - 1 item
- small green pepper, cubed - 1 item
- pork 4 or 5 chops, fat trimmed - 1 2
- carrots, thin sliced diagonally - 1/2 c
- green onions, cut in 2 inch lengths - 3 item
How to make sweet and sour pork:
For a sweet and sour sauce, combine water, sugar, vinegar, 1 tablespoon cornstarch and 1 tablespoon soy sauce in a saucepan. Cook over high heat, stirring constantly until clear and thick. Cover; set aside. Slice pork thinly. Combine salt, 2 teaspoons soy sauce, 2 teaspoons cornstarch and white pepper and mix with pork. Let stand 20 minutes. Heat wok or pan on high heat. Add oil and heat until very hot. Add pork and stir-fry until white. Add carrots and water; cover and cook 2 minutes. Pour in reserved sweet and sour sauce, stirring to blend. Add pineapple and bring to boil. Add green onions and pepper and cook until bubbly. Serve with hot rice.Recipe categories: Pineapple, Main dish, Pork.
