Sweet and sour pork
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
- vegetable oil - 3 Tbsp
- vinegar - 1/4 c
- lemon juice - 1 Tbsp
- clove garlic, minced - 1 item
- soy sauce - 1 Tbsp
- catsup - 1 Tbsp
- chicken broth - 1/4 c
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- medium onion, chopped - 1 item
- green pepper, chopped - 1 item
- rib celery, sliced - 1 item
- lean pork, cut into bite sized pieces
How to make sweet and sour pork:
Sauce:3/4 c. sugar1/4 c. vinegar1 Tbsp. soy sauce1 Tbsp. lemon juice1 Tbsp. catsup1 Tbsp. cornstarch1/4 c. chicken broth Saute onion, pepper and celery in oil for a few minutes. Remove from pan and set aside to use in sauce. In same pan, brown pork, seasonings with garlic, salt and pepper to taste. Prepare sauce and pour over pork. Cover and simmer for 45 minutes or until tender and well done. Serve with rice.Sauce: Combiner sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, lemon juice and catsup. Mix well. Dissolve cornstarch in chicken broth, stirring until mix thickens and clears. Add onion, pepper and celery. Chicken can also be used instead of pork.
