Sweet and sour chicken
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- cornstarch - 1/4 c
- vegetable oil - 2 c
- egg - 1 item
- vinegar - 1/4 c
- garlic powder - 1/4 tsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- soy sauce - 3 Tbsp
- catsup - 1/4 c
- hot cooked rice - 1 item
- sherry - 1 Tbsp
- chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces - 1 lb
- pineapple chunks, undrained - 1 (15
- medium green pepper, cut into 1-inch pieces - 1 item
How to make sweet and sour chicken:
Combine first 6 ingredients, mixing well. Add chicken, stirring to coat. Heat oil in electric skillet to 375°; fry chicken until lightly browned. Drain.Drain pineapple, reserving liquid. Add enough water to juice to make one cup. Add 2 tablespoons cornstarch, stirring well. Combine pineapple, juice mixture and next 4 ingredients in a medium saucepan. Bring mixture to a boil. Stir green pepper and chicken into sauce. Cook until thoroughly heated. Serve over rice. Serves 4.
