Ingredients/Components

  • eggs - 2 item
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • brown sugar - 1/2 c
  • cornstarch - 4 Tbsp
  • water - 1/3 c
  • nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
  • salad oil - 2 Tbsp
  • garlic powder - 1/4 tsp
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • soy sauce - 1 Tbsp
  • ground beef
  • wine vinegar - 3 Tbsp
  • onion, minced - 1 item
  • pineapple juice
  • pineapple and papaya chunks - 2 c
  • green peppers, cut to bite size - 2 item

How to make sweet and sour meatballs:

Blend together beef, eggs, 1 teaspoon cornstarch, onion, pepper, nutmeg, salt and garlic. Form into 1-inch balls. Heat oil in skillet and brown meatballs on all sides.

In a large saucepan, add remaining cornstarch to pineapple juice along with soy sauce, vinegar, water and brown sugar. Cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Add meatballs, fruit and green pepper and cook 5 minutes or until fruit is well heated.

Serve sprinkled with chopped Macadamia nuts or slivered almonds. Makes 40 to 50 meatballs.
