Stuffed cabbage
Ingredients/Components
- large cabbage leaves - 12 item
- lean ground beef - 1 lb
- chopped onion - 1/4 c
- uncooked rice - 2/3 c
- tomato juice - 3 c
- margarine - 2 Tbsp
- large onion, sliced - 1 item
- seedless raisins - 1/2 c
- honey - 1/4 c
- lemon juice - 2 Tbsp
- boiling water - 1 item
- black pepper - 1/4 tsp
How to make stuffed cabbage:
Trim off thick part of each cabbage leaf. Cover leaf with water; soak 2 minutes. Mix beef, onion, rice, tomato juice and pepper. Place about 3 tablespoons meat mixture on each cabbage leaf. Tuck in sides and roll up.Melt margarine in skillet. Add sliced onion and brown lightly. Stir in remaining 2 cups tomato juice. Bring to a simmer; arrange cabbage rolls in sauce. Cover; cook over low heat for 1 hour. Uncover and cook 30 minutes more.
