Ingredients/Components

  • large cabbage leaves - 12 item
  • lean ground beef - 1 lb
  • chopped onion - 1/4 c
  • uncooked rice - 2/3 c
  • tomato juice - 3 c
  • margarine - 2 Tbsp
  • large onion, sliced - 1 item
  • seedless raisins - 1/2 c
  • honey - 1/4 c
  • lemon juice - 2 Tbsp
  • boiling water - 1 item
  • black pepper - 1/4 tsp

How to make stuffed cabbage:

Trim off thick part of each cabbage leaf. Cover leaf with water; soak 2 minutes. Mix beef, onion, rice, tomato juice and pepper. Place about 3 tablespoons meat mixture on each cabbage leaf. Tuck in sides and roll up.

Melt margarine in skillet. Add sliced onion and brown lightly. Stir in remaining 2 cups tomato juice. Bring to a simmer; arrange cabbage rolls in sauce. Cover; cook over low heat for 1 hour. Uncover and cook 30 minutes more.
