Ingredients/Components
- cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
- nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 2 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- shortening - 3/4 c
- sifted flour - 3 c
- raisins - 1 c
- cloves - 1/2 tsp
- white sugar - 2 c
- walnuts - 1 c
How to make st. james coffee cake:
Sift together all dry ingredients except soda. Cut in shortening. Set aside 1/2 cup crumbs for topping. Dissolve soda in the buttermilk and add to dry ingredients, mixing well.
