  • sifted flour - 3 c
  • raisins - 1 c
  • cloves - 1/2 tsp
  • white sugar - 2 c
  • walnuts - 1 c

How to make st. james coffee cake:

Sift together all dry ingredients except soda. Cut in shortening. Set aside 1/2 cup crumbs for topping. Dissolve soda in the buttermilk and add to dry ingredients, mixing well. Fold in raisins and nuts. Pour into a 9 x 13-inch baking dish and sprinkl
