Ingredients/Components
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- granulated sugar
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- brown sugar - 3/4 c
- nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- soda - 1/2 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- cloves - 1 tsp
- stiffly beaten egg whites - 2 item
- walnuts - 1/2 c
- strong coffee - 2 Tbsp
- well beaten eggs - 2 item
- Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk
How to make spice nut cake:
Cream shortening, vanilla and sugar; add eggs and beat well. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk. Stir in nuts. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.Seafoam Frosting:1 c. dark corn syrup1/2 c. brown sugar1/4 tsp. salt2 Tbsp. strong coffee2 stiffly beaten egg whites Combine syrup, sugar, salt and coffee; cook to thread stage.
