Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- eggs, separated - 2 item
- soda - 1/4 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- boiling water - 1/2 c
- margarine - 2 Tbsp
- cornmeal - 1/2 c
How to make spoon bread:
Sift dry ingredients together. Gradually add boiling water and margarine, stirring constantly. Beat egg yolks until light. Add buttermilk and cornmeal mixture. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour into greased casserole dish and bake 45 to 50 minutes at 375°. Serves 4.Recipe categories: Breads, < 15 mins, Side dish.
