- boiling water
- corn meal self-rising - 2 c
How to make spoon bread:
Preheat oven to 400°. Beat egg whites until stiff peaks are formed. Into a large mixing bowl, put the corn meal and slowly add the boiling water, stirring continuously. Add butter, egg yolks and milk and stir or beat well. Fold egg whites into batter and pour into an 8 or 9-inch cake pan. Bake for 40 minutes at 400° or until done.
