  • sugar - 4 c
  • water - 6 c
  • red cinnamon candies - 6 Tbsp
  • Golden or Red Delicious apples, peeled and quartered - 6 lb

How to make spiced apple rings:

Combine water, sugar and candies in a large kettle. Bring mixture to a boil. Simmer until candies are dissolved. Reserve; add food coloring, if desired. Drop apples into slightly salted water; drain. Add apples to syrup and simmer apples until slightly tender. Pack mixture into sterilized jars. Cover with syrup and seal.
