  • sugar - 1 c
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1 lb
  • flour - 1 c
  • egg yolks - 4 item
  • chopped dates - 1 lb
  • baking powder - 1/2 tsp
  • egg whites, stiffly beaten - 4 item

How to make spice cake:

Sift flour, salt and baking powder together. Next, beat egg yolks until light with sugar and vanilla. Mix with dates, nuts and flour. Fold in with egg whites. Bake in greased and floured loaf pan for 1 hour or longer at 300° to 325°.
