Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/4 c
  • salt - 1 Tbsp
  • ground beef - 2 lb
  • large green pepper - 1 item
  • cooked rice - 1 c
  • sprinkle of pepper - 1 item
  • medium size onion - 1 item
  • or less hamburger - 1 item
  • medium can chopped tomatoes optional - 1 item

How to make spanish rice:

Fry ground beef in a skillet with chopped onion and green pepper on medium heat. Stir periodically to keep it from sticking. Drain properly.

Add tomato paste and sugar. If desired, you can add 1 medium can of chopped tomatoes. You may need to add water to your mixture to thin your paste base.

Finally, add 1 cup "cooked" rice to your mixture. Salt and pepper. Let simmer for 15 minutes.
