Spanish rice
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 tsp
- shortening - 1 Tbsp
- onion, finely chopped - 1/4 c
- green pepper, chopped - 1/4 c
- celery, chopped - 1/4 c
- uncooked rice - 1/2 c
- canned tomatoes - 2 c
- canned meat, chopped - 2 c
How to make spanish rice:
Cook rice in shortening until brown. Add onion, pepper, celery, tomato and sugar. Heat until boiling. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 25 minutes or until rice is tender. Stir in meat and cook slowly, stirring occasionally, about 5 minutes or until heated. Serves 6.Recipe categories: Low protein, Low fat, Side dish.
