Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • salt
  • water - 2 c
  • oil - 1/4 c
  • chili powder - 1/2 tsp
  • can tomato sauce - 1 item
  • celery, diced - 1/2 c
  • onion, finely chopped - 1/2 c
  • green pepper, chopped - 1/2 c
  • uncooked rice - 1 c

How to make spanish rice:

Heat oil. Add rice; cook, stirring over medium heat until golden. Add onion and cook 1 minute. Add tomato sauce, water, seasonings, green pepper and celery. Cover; cook over low heat for 25 minutes or longer until rice is tender. Stir occasionally.

One can shrimp, drained, can be added.
