Spaghetti pie
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- soft butter - 2 Tbsp
- egg, well beaten - 1 item
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- grated Parmesan cheese - 1/2 c
- cloves garlic, minced - 2 item
- oregano - 1/2 tsp
- shredded Mozzarella cheese - 12 oz
- medium onion, chopped - 1 item
- spaghetti sauce - 1 qt
- green pepper - 1 item
- ground chuck
- cottage cheese or Ricotta - 1 lb
- spaghetti, broken in 2-inch pieces - 8 oz
How to make spaghetti pie:
Cook spaghetti according to package directions; drain. In a large bowl, mix the butter, Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper and egg. Add spaghetti and toss to coat well. Spread evenly in a 9 x 13-inch pan. Brown the ground chuck in a large saucepan, adding onion, pepper and garlic just as meat starts to brown. When meat is browned, drain off fat. Stir in spaghetti sauce, sugar and oregano. Spread cottage cheese over spaghetti layer. Top with meat mixture. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes. Sprinkle with Mozzarella. Bake another 10 minutes. Let stand 15 minutes before serving.
