  • sugar
  • cinnamon - 2 tsp
  • eggs - 2 item
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • shortening - 1 c
  • sifted flour
  • cream of tartar - 2 tsp

How to make snickerdoodles:

Blend together shortening, sugar and eggs. Sift together flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt. Add to first mixture and mix. Refrigerate 1 hour. Then roll dough in balls the size of a walnut. Roll in a mixture of 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon. Place on cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Bake until lightly brown but still soft. (These puff up at first then flatten out.) Bake 8 to 10 minutes at 400°.
