Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • cinnamon - 3 tsp
  • eggs - 2 item
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • shortening - 1 c
  • cream of tartar - 2 tsp

How to make snickerdoodles:

Sift flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt. Mix shortening, sugar and eggs. Combine all. Chill thoroughly. Roll into balls about the size of small walnuts. Dip on side into sugar and cinnamon mixture. Place balls, sugar side up, 2-inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in 375° oven until lightly browned. Yields 5 dozen cookies.
