Shoo-fly pie
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- flour
- brown sugar - 1 c
- nutmeg - 1/8 tsp
- baking soda - 3/4 tsp
- shortening - 1/4 c
- molasses - 3/4 c
- hot water - 3/4 c
- a little ginger, cloves and cinnamon - 1 item
How to make shoo-fly pie:
Work the first 3 ingredients together in a bowl. In another bowl, add all the remaining ingredients except the water. Mix well, then add water. Into an unbaked pie shell, combine the crumbs and liquid in alternate layers with crumbs on bottom and top. Bake 15 minutes at 450° and then 20 minutes at 350°.P.S.: Every true Dutchman loves his farm, his home, his church and his Shoo-fly pie!
