Shoo-fly cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- flour - 4 c
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- boiling water - 2 c
- shortening - 1 c
- dark molasses - 1 c
How to make shoo-fly cake:
Mix together flour, sugar and shortening. Reserve 1 cup of mixture for on top of cake. In another bowl, mix molasses and baking soda. Add boiling water slowly, stirring. Pour molasses mixture into flour mixture and stir. Pour into greased and floured cake pan. Sprinkle reserved flour mixture over top.
