Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- brown sugar - 1 lb
- oil - 3/4 c
- baking soda - 1 Tbsp
- boiling water
- unsifted flour - 4 c
- molasses - 1 c
How to make shoo-fly cake:
Mix and set aside molasses, boiling water and soda. Mix until crumbly the flour, oil, salt and sugar. Save 1 cup of crumbs for top of cake. Add the liquid to the remaining crumbs and pour into a 9 x 13-inch pan. Spread reserved crumbs evenly over top of batter.
