Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 5 6
- stick margarine - 1 item
- water - 1 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- cocoa
- buttermilk - 1/2 c
- nuts - 1 c
- Crisco - 1/2 c
- sifted confectioners sugar - 1 lb
- sifted plain flour - 2 c
- Icing:1 stick margarine
- coconut if desired - 1 c
How to make scotch chocolate cake:
Icing:1 stick margarine4 Tbsp. cocoa5 to 6 Tbsp. milk1 lb. sifted confectioners sugar1 tsp. vanilla1 c. nuts1 c. coconut (if desired) Mix in a bowl the flour and sugar. Bring to a boil in saucepan the margarine, Crisco, cocoa and water. Pour over flour and sugar and mix. Put soda in buttermilk and add to mixture with the eggs and vanilla. Turn into greased and floured pan (11 x 16-inch). Bake at 400° for 20 to 30 minutes. While it bakes, make icing.Icing: Combine margarine, cocoa and milk in saucepan. Stir constantly and bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Stir in sugar, vanilla and nuts. Pour on hot cake. May add coconut.
