Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 Tbsp
- half and half
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 4 c
- butter - 2/3 c
- baking powder - 4 tsp
- large egg - 1 item
- cream of tartar - 1/2 tsp
- golden raisins optional - 1/4 c
How to make scones:
Heat oven to 425°. Grease large baking sheet. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and cream of tartar; blend with pastry cutter. Beat half and half and egg; reserve 2 tablespoons. Add to dry ingredients. Form soft dough. Knead 4 or 6 times and divide in half. Roll half into 8-inch round and cut into 4 wedges. Do second half. Pierce tops of scones with fork. Brush with reserved egg mix. Bake 15 to 18 minutes.Recipe categories: Breads, Quick breads, Scones.
