Sausage biscuits
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 Tbsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- shortening - 1/2 c
- self-rising flour
- warm water - 1/4 c
- dry yeast - 1 pkg
- pork sausage - 1 lb
How to make sausage biscuits:
Cook sausage in a skillet until brown. Stir to crumble; drain well and set aside. Combine shortening and flour; mix well. Dissolve yeast in warm water; add sugar. Let stand 5 minutes. Add buttermilk while stirring well. Add liquid to dry ingredients. Stir just until ingredients are moistened. Knead in sausage.Turn onto floured surface. Roll and cut with biscuit cutter. You may brush tops with melted margarine, if you desire. Bake at 425° for 10 minutes. Freezes well.
