Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 Tbsp
- milk - 1 c
- buttermilk - 1 c
- shortening - 3/4 c
- self-rising flour - 5 c
- warm water - 1/4 c
- dry yeast - 2 pkg
How to make angel biscuits:
Cut shortening into flour until well mixed. In another bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water; add sugar. Let stand 2 or 3 minutes. Add milk and stir well. Add this to flour and shortening mixture. Stir until ingredients are moistened.Turn out on floured surface. Roll and cut with biscuit cutter. Place in a greased pan and brush tops with melted margarine. Let rise 30 minutes to an hour. Bake at 425°. Yields about 36 biscuits.
