Russian tea cakes
Ingredients/Components
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- margarine or butter, softened - 1 c
- powdered sugar - 1/2 c
- finely chopped nuts - 3/4 c
- all-purpose flour *
How to make russian tea cakes:
Heat oven to 400°. Mix margarine, 1/2 cup powdered sugar and the vanilla. Stir in flour, nuts and salt until dough holds together; shape into 1-inch balls. Place about 1-inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until set, but not brown, 10 to 12 minutes. Roll in powdered sugar while warm; cool. Roll in powdered sugar again. Makes about 4 dozen cookies, 80 calories per cookie.*Do not use self-rising flour for this recipe.
