  • water
  • vinegar - 2 c
  • alum - 1 item
  • onions - 1 item
  • cucumbers - 1 item
  • canning salt - 1/4 c
  • fresh dill - 1 item
  • minced pickling spice - 2 Tbsp

How to make russian dill pickles:

Brine:2 c. water2 c. sugar2 c. vinegar1/4 c. canning salt2 Tbsp. minced pickling spice Clean cucumbers and sterilize quart jars. In bottom of each jar, put one piece of fresh dill, 2 slices of onion and 1/4 teaspoon alum. Put sliced cucumbers into jar.

Brine: Boil together water, sugar, vinegar, salt and pickling spice. Pour over packed jars and seal with sterilized lids. Wait 2 months before using. They are delicious. Yield: 4 to 5 quarts.
