  • sugar - 1 c
  • cinnamon
  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • sour cream - 1/2 c
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • chopped walnuts - 1/2 c
  • sifted flour - 2 c
  • soft butter - 1/4 lb
  • Add vanilla
  • poppy seed optional - 1/2 c
  • raisins for the center filling only - 1/2 c

How to make russian coffee cake:

Cream butter, sugar and eggs. Add vanilla. Sift dry ingredients; add alternately with the sour cream. Pour 1/2 batter into well-greased tube pan, ten-inch size. Sprinkle 3/4 of the filling and the raisins onto the batter in the pan. Pour the remaining batter into the pan to cover the filling. Sprinkle the remaining filling on top and bake at 350° for 45 or 50 minutes.Filling:1/2 c. sugar1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon1/2 c. chopped walnuts1/2 c. poppy seed (optional)1/2 c. raisins (for the center filling only) Mix all the ingredients in a bowl, except the raisins. They are only used in the center filling.
