Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 c
  • eggs - 4 item
  • vanilla
  • sour cream - 1 pt
  • butter or margarine - 1/2 lb
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • baking soda - 2 tsp
  • sifted flour - 4 c
  • walnuts, chopped - 1 c
  • Add eggs one at a time and beat

How to make russian coffee cake:

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time and beat. Sift dry ingredients and add to shortening mixture alternately with sour cream. Add vanilla. Pour 1/2 of the batter in a greased pan. Pour 1/2 topping mix, pour rest of batter in pan, then the rest of the topping. Bake at 375° for 15 minutes, then 350° for one hour. Check at 45 minutes, then at 5 minute intervals.Topping:1 tsp. cinnamon2 Tbsp. sugar1 c. walnuts, chopped
