Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- pkg - 8 oz
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- cocoa - 3 Tbsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- all-purpose flour
- large eggs - 6 item
- margarine - 1 lb
- red food coloring - 1 oz
- box powdered sugar - 1 item
How to make red velvet pound cake:
Cream Cheese Icing:1/2 c. margarine1 box powdered sugar1/2 tsp. salt8 oz. pkg. cream cheese1 tsp. vanilla Cream margarine and sugar; add eggs one at a time beating after each addition. Add flour, baking powder and cocoa, alternating with buttermilk and red food coloring. Add vanilla. Pour into greased and floured 10-inch tube pan and bake at 300° for 1 hour and 20 minutes until the cake tests done. Frost with cream cheese icing.Icing: Combine all ingredients, beating until smooth. Beat at high speed on mixer.
