- vanilla - 1 tsp
- chopped pecans - 1 item

- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- butter - 1/2 c
- cocoa - 1 Tbsp
- buttermilk
- baking powder - 1/8 tsp
- vinegar - 1 Tbsp
- Crisco - 1/2 c
- red food coloring - 2 3
- box powdered sugar - 1 item
How to make red velvet cake:
For Cream Cheese Frosting:1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese1/2 c. butter1 box powdered sugar1 tsp. vanilla chopped pecans Mix Crisco and sugar until creamy. Add eggs, salt, cocoa, flour, vanilla, buttermilk and food coloring. Mix very well. Add baking soda, baking powder and vinegar; mix well. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes at 350° in 3 greased and floured 8 to 9-inch cake pans. Let cool and frost.For Frosting: Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add sugar; mix well. Add vanilla and beat until smooth. Spread between layers and on top of cake; sprinkle with pecans.
