  • cream cheese - 8 oz
  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • chopped pecans - 1 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • cocoa - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • vinegar - 1 tsp
  • red food coloring - 1 oz
  • cake flour
  • Wesson oil
  • Frosting:1 box confectioners sugar
  • stick oleo, room temperature - 1 item

How to make red velvet cake:

Frosting:1 box confectioners sugar8 oz. cream cheese1 stick oleo, room temperature1 tsp. vanilla1 c. chopped pecans Cream shortening and sugar together. Add one at a time the food coloring, vanilla and eggs; mix well. Sift flour, cocoa and salt. Add flour mixture and milk to cream mixture then blend in vinegar and soda. Bake in three 8-inch cake pans at 350° for 30 minutes.
