Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- cocoa - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- cooking oil - 2 c
- plain flour
- red food coloring - 1 oz
- stick margarine, softened - 1 item
- box powdered sugar, sifted - 1 item
- Add eggs; beat well
How to make red velvet cake:
Cream oil and sugar together. Add eggs; beat well. Sift flour, salt, cocoa and soda together. Add red coloring and flavoring to sugar mixture. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk. Pour into 3 greased and floured pans. Bake at 350° until done.Icing:8 oz. cream cheese, at room temperature1 stick margarine, softened1 box powdered sugar, sifted1 c. chopped nuts Beat cheese and butter together; add sugar. Stir in nuts.
