Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 2 tsp
- milk - 2 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- cocoa - 2 Tbsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- vinegar - 1 Tbsp
- stick butter - 1 item
- dash of salt - 1 item
- plain flour - 2/3 c
- Crisco - 1 c
- red food coloring - 2 oz
- sticks butter - 2 item
- Let it cool until cold
How to make red velvet cake:
Cook and stir milk and flour together until thick. Let it cool until cold. Add butter, Crisco, sugar, salt and vanilla; mix with flour mixture and beat at least 10 minutes. Keep in refrigerator until cake is done and cold, then frost.Cake:1 box white cake mix1 stick butter2 eggs1 c. buttermilk2 Tbsp. cocoa2 oz. red food coloring1 Tbsp. vinegar1 tsp. soda Put cake mix in large bowl. Mix in butter, eggs and buttermilk; mix until blended. Make paste of cocoa and food coloring; add to cake mixture. Mix vinegar with soda and add to cake mixture; mix well.
