Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- vanilla - 1/2 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- butter - 1/2 lb
- egg yolks - 2 item
- cream of tartar - 1/4 tsp
- Topping:4 egg whites
How to make raspberry meringue bars:
Topping:4 egg whites1/4 tsp. cream of tartar1/2 c. sugar1/2 tsp. vanilla Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs yolks, one at a time; beat well after each. Fold in flour gradually. Add salt. Mix well. Spread dough in well-greased pan (9 x 13-inch). Take 12 ounces of raspberry jelly, jam or pie filling; spread evenly.Topping: Beat egg whites with cream of tartar until stiff. Add sugar and vanilla slowly. Spread meringue evenly. Top with chopped nuts. Bake at 350° for 35 minutes. Makes 30 bars. Cool before cutting. This is party food at its best.
