Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1/2 c
  • flour
  • water - 1 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • baking powder - 1/2 tsp
  • shortening - 3/4 c
  • raisins - 1 c
  • rolled oats - 2 c
  • cloves - 1/2 tsp

How to make raisin oatmeal cookies:

Simmer raisins in water over low heat until plump (20 to 30 minutes). Drain raisin water into measuring cup and add water to make 1/2 cup. Mix shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Stir in raisin-water. Stir in flour, baking powder, soda, salt and spices; add rolled oats, nuts and raisins. Drop onto ungreased cookie sheet and bake 8 to 10 minutes.

Coconut can be substituted for raisins.
