  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 2 c
  • brown sugar - 1 c
  • water - 1 c
  • nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • baking powder - 1/2 tsp
  • shortening - 1/3 c
  • cloves - 1/2 tsp
  • seedless raisins - 2 c

How to make raisin cake:

Place first 4 items in saucepan and bring to a boil. Boil 3 minutes. Cool. When cool, add soda dissolved in 2 teaspoons hot water. Beat well and add flour, mixed and sifted with spices and baking powder. Mix well and add vanilla. Grease loaf pan
