Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • eggs - 2 item
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour
  • shortening - 1/3 c
  • warm water - 1/4 c
  • yeast - 2 pkg
  • scalded milk
  • c mashed potatoes - 1 item

How to make raised doughnuts:

Boil and mash potatoes. Measure 1 cup into bowl. Add milk, sugar, shortening and well beaten eggs. Raise yeast in lukewarm water about 10 minutes. Mix all ingredients together.

Knead on a lightly floured board. Place in a greased bowl and let rise until doubled. Roll out and cut with doughnut cutter. Fry in deep fat fryer.
