Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1/2 tsp
- salt - 3/4 tsp
- water - 1/3 c
- nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder - 1/4 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- shortening - 1/3 c
- chopped walnuts or pecans - 1/2 c
- regular flour
- canned, mashed pumpkin - 1 c
How to make pumpkin bread:
Grease 2 (9 x 5 x 3-inch) loaf pans. On wax paper, sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Stir in pumpkin.In 4 separate additions, stir in dry ingredients and water alternately, until just smooth. Do not overbeat. Fold in nuts. Bake at 350° for 45 to 55 minutes.
