Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 Tbsp
  • salt - 2 Tbsp
  • water
  • oil - 2 Tbsp
  • vinegar - 1 Tbsp
  • ground cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • ground ginger - 1/2 tsp
  • pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • bay leaf - 1 item
  • onion - 1/2 c
  • beef broth - 3/4 c
  • chuck pot roast beef - 3 lb

How to make pot roast:

In a Dutch oven, brown roast in hot oil. Combine water, broth, tomato sauce, onion, sugar, vinegar, salt, cinnamon, bay leaf, pepper and ginger. Pour over meat and bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer until meat is tender, about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. You can make good gravy with the drippings.
