Pineapple upside-down cake
Ingredients/Components
- flour - 1 c
- brown sugar - 1 c
- butter
- eggs, separated - 3 item
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- white sugar - 1 c
- pineapple juice - 5 Tbsp
- chopped pecans optional - 1/2 c
- maraschino cherries optional - 1 item
- sliced pineapple - 1 item
- crushed pineapple if preferred - 1 item
How to make pineapple upside-down cake:
Melt butter in skillet. Add brown sugar and spread evenly over bottom. Lay a complete wheel of pineapple in the center with maraschino cherry in the center of pineapple. Place half wheels around with pecans between.Beat egg yolks until thick; add white sugar and pineapple juice. Sift in the flour and baking powder. Mix and fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour over mixture in skillet. Bake at 350° for 45 to 55 minutes. Cool 10 minutes and remove onto platter.
