  • granulated sugar - 3/4 c
  • packed brown sugar - 1/2 c
  • butter or margarine - 2 Tbsp
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • baking powder
  • egg - 1 item
  • shortening - 1/3 c
  • all-purpose flour
  • can pineapple slices - 1 oz
  • maraschino cherries, halved - 4 item

How to make pineapple upside-down cake:

Drain pineapple; reserve liquid. Halve slices. Melt butter in 9-inch round pan, 1 1/2-inches high. Stir in brown sugar and 1 tablespoon reserved pineapple liquid. Add water to remaining liquid to make 2/3 cup. Arrange pineapple and cherries in pan.
