  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • granulated sugar - 1/2 c
  • butter or margarine - 3 Tbsp
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • flour - 1 c
  • brown sugar - 1/2 c
  • baking powder
  • egg - 1 item
  • shortening - 1/3 c
  • maraschino cherries, halved - 4 item
  • can sliced pineapple - 1 1/2

How to make pineapple upside-down cake:

Drain pineapple, reserving syrup. Halve pineapple slices. Melt butter in 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking pan. Add brown sugar and 1 tablespoon of the reserved pineapple syrup. Add water to the remaining syrup to make 1/2 cup. Arrange pineapple in bottom of pan.
