Ingredients/Components
- butter or margarine - 1/3 c
- unbaked 9-inch pastry shell - 1 item
- all-purpose flour - 1/2 c
- lemon juice - 2 tbsp
- ground cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
- grated lemon peel - 1/2 tsp
- ground coriander - 1/4 tsp
- sugar, divided - 1 c
- vanilla ice cream optional - 1 item
- ground mace - 1/4 tsp
- sliced, peeled ripe pears - 6 c
How to make pear pie:
In a bowl, combine 1/2 cup sugar, lemon juice, peel and coriander. Add pears and toss. Spoon into pie shell. In a bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, mace and remaining sugar; cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over pears. Bake at 400° for 45 minutes or until pears are tender.
