Apple harvest squares
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- vanilla
- vanilla extract - 1 tsp
- butter or margarine - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- chopped nuts - 3/4 c
- flour - 2 c
- evaporated milk - 1/3 c
- flaked coconut
- egg - 1 item
- all-purpose flour
- shredded coconut
- lemon juice - 2 Tbsp
- walnuts, chopped - 1 c
- ground cinnamon - 1 tsp
- egg, lightly beaten - 1 item
- butter at room temperature - 3/4 c
- apricot preserves - 8 oz
- sugar, divided - 1 c
- sliced, peeled apples - 4 c
How to make apple harvest squares:
Preheat oven to 350°. Cream butter, sugar, egg and vanilla. Mix in salt, flour and coconut and stir well. Reserve 3/4 cup for topping. Spread the rest in a greased 9 x 11-inch pan. Spread apricot preserves over mixture. Sprinkle nuts over preserves. Crumble reserved 3/4 cup dough over top. Bake 30 minutes. Cool slightly and cut into 24 bars.Preparation Time: 10 to 12 minutes. Baking Time: 30 minutes.
