Ingredients/Components
- recipe pie crust - 1 item
- sugar - 2 c
- vinegar - 3 Tbsp
- allspice - 1 tsp
- raisins - 1 c
- egg whites, stiffly beaten - 4 item
- egg yolks, beaten - 4 item
- butter - 3 Tbsp
- cinnamon - 1 Tbsp
- cloves - 1 tsp
- nuts, chopped - 1 c
How to make osgood pie:
Beat egg whites; set aside. Mix all other ingredients together and then fold in egg whites last. Pour into unbaked pie shell (unless a large 9 or 10-inch shell is used, this will make 2 pies). Bake in slow oven at 300° for 45 minutes to 1 hour. The meringue comes to the top and the cinnamon makes it a nice brown topping for the pie.Recipe categories: Desserts, Pie, Pies and tarts.
