Orange slice cake
Ingredients/Components
- margarine - 1 c
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 4 item
- buttermilk - 1/2 c
- all purpose flour
- soda - 1 tsp
- dates chopped - 1 lb
- orange slices, cut small - 1 lb
- chopped nuts - 2 c
- can flaked coconut - 1 item
- pure orange juice - 1 c
- powdered sugar - 2 c
How to make orange slice cake:
Cream margarine and sugar; add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Dissolve soda in buttermilk; add to creamed mixture. Place flour in a large bowl; add dates, orange slice pieces, and nuts. Stir to coat each piece. Add flour mixture and coconut to creamed mixture. You may find it easier to mix with hands. Pour into a greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 250° for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Combine powdered sugar and orange juice; bring to a boil. Pour over hot cake and let stand for 6 to 8 hours before removing from pan.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, Fruit.
