Onion soup
Ingredients/Components
- flour - 1 Tbsp
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- pepper to taste - 1 item
- salt to taste - 1 item
- Parmesan cheese, grated - 1/4 c
- shredded Swiss cheese - 3/4 c
- beef broth - 6 c
- large yellow onions, sliced - 4 item
- French bread or croutons - 1 item
How to make onion soup:
Simmer beef broth. Saute sliced onion with butter until soft, not brown. Stir flour into cooked onions. Add onion mixture, salt and pepper to broth. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes over medium heat. Place bread in individual bowls. Pour soup over bread and cover with Swiss and Parmesan cheese. Set under broiler for 3 to 5 minutes.Note: Recommend use of 4 cans beef broth and 1 beef bouillon cube.
