  • sugar - 1/3 c
  • cinnamon - 1 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • milk - 2 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • water
  • nutmeg - 1 item
  • eggs, beaten - 2 item
  • raisins - 1/4 c
  • rice - 1/2 c

How to make old fashioned rice pudding:

Bring water to a boil. Stir in rice and salt. Cover. Simmer until all water is absorbed. Add milk and boil gently, stirring occasionally until thickens slightly, about 5 minutes.

Combine eggs, sugar and vanilla in bowl. Gradually stir in rice mix and mix well. Pour into greased 1 1/2-quart casserole dish. Stir in raisins and sprinkle with nutmeg and/or cinnamon. Place casserole dish in a pan containing 1-inch hot water. Bake at 350° for 45 to 50 minutes.
